Trillium Woods Celebrates the Holiday Season with Style

The holidays are here, and once again, Trillium Woods is abuzz with festive cheer and a schedule full of exciting events. This holiday season, residents of the Plymouth, MN, senior living community are enjoying several parties, fun challenges, live concerts, fun excursions, and even opportunities to give back.

Holiday Tradition with a Twist

Many residents decorate their apartment doors and hallway shelves with unique holiday decorations every year, making walks along the community’s corridors very merry. To add to the fun — and make sure that everyone gets a chance to see all their neighbors’ creativity — Trillium Woods is hosting a Holiday Scavenger Hunt. Residents who correctly identify the doors featured in a series of photos with be entered to win a prize.

So Many Parties

There are always great parties on Trillium Woods’ calendar, but December is the time to pull out all the stops.

Andrew Hall’s exceptional culinary team is hosting an elegant 3-course Holiday Dinner, complete with wine and a decadent chocolate dessert. To add to the festive, elegant spirit of the meal, the DeCantus a cappella ensemble will sing carols and other seasonal songs.

Residents with December birthdays will be the guests of honor at a holiday sweater-themed birthday party. Everyone is encouraged to don their loveliest, silliest, or most extravagant warm and wooly creations for the festivities. Cupcakes will be served!

The saxophone/keyboard duo CODA will be on hand to help ring in 2025 at Trillium Woods’ New Year’s Eve Celebration.

Holiday Home Tours

Every year, a handful of residents generously open their holiday-decorated homes to their neighbors for tours. Then, tour-goers are invited to gather around the lobby fireplace for refreshments and drinks as Trillium Woods’ own resident Bell Choir plays holiday music.

At night, during the holiday season, Plymouth becomes a winter wonderland as homeowners turn their yards into sparkling, light-filled snowscapes. The Trillium Woods Holiday Lights Bus Tour will take residents through the most festive neighborhoods to look at the cheerful displays.

Concerts to Lift Your Spirit

Live musical performances are always a very popular part of Trillium Woods’ calendar, and the holidays bring out the best of the best.

Highlights include onsite concerts by The Wayzata High School Chamber Singers — the top singers in a 400-student choral program and the Bella Lumina Choir, plus trips to Minnesota Orchestra Hall for a performance of Bach and Northrup Hall at the University of Minnesota for VocalEssence’s Welcome Christmas show.

The Spirit of Giving

Throughout the year, Trillium Woods’ residents raise and donate money to give as year-end bonuses to the hardworking associates who are such a large part of what makes the community the warm and special place that it is. To present the checks, residents host a holiday celebration in honor of the community’s amazing employees.

Extending their generosity beyond the campus, this holiday season, residents supported Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners by helping to stock their food shelves with healthy snacks, cereals, and other necessities, and donated gently used coats, hats, mittens, boots, scarves, and new socks to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office’s Annual Cold Weather Item Donation Drive.

Staying Healthy

Trillium Woods is a wellness-focused community, and the fitness team is working hard to make sure that residents stay healthy and active despite the chilly weather and tempting holiday treats.

This year, they are inviting residents to take on the FrostFit challenge, a unique twist on CrossFit, adapted to seniors’ needs and abilities, with workouts that are fun, accessible, and effective. Every time someone works out or stretches in the Fitness Center or participates in a Group Fitness class, they earn a point. If they achieve three points in one week, a snowman decoration will go up on the Fitness Center Wall. The goal is to have 150 snowmen up on the wall by January 1, 2025.

The holiday season at Trillium Woods is a time of joy, connection, and celebration, reflecting the vibrant spirit of this remarkable senior living community.
